Board leadership is hard work! Janet Boguch served as Senior Governance Consultant to BoardSource in Washington, DC, the premier national organization that provides services to strengthen boards. She facilitates these seminars, which focus solely on the responsibilities of board chairs, elected officers and active members. The constructive partnership between the board chair and the executive director is central to effective governance. A productive relationship between the board chair and the full board is essential to ensuring healthy organizations.

In this seminar series Board members from all types of non-profits meet monthly to learn new skills, discuss practical solutions and brainstorm ideas—all in a confidential, collegial and comfortable setting. Board members learn best and better practices of governance. The cohort meets for two and a half hour sessions on a monthly basis at Non-Profit Works on Capitol Hill. Through monthly peer conversations and problem solving, participants learn from one another, and leave each session with tools, strategies and action plans. Specific topics and readings are based on registrants’ requests. Enrollment is limited to 14.
